Illegal drugs: Amphetamine and cocaine: both increase dopamine levels which result in a feeling of

pleasure and wellbeing. Cocaine: abuse results in disturbance in heart rhythm, heart attacks, chest pain, respiratory

failure. Marijuana: the active chemicals in marijuana are THC. Short-term: effects of marijuana use include problems with memory and learning, increase

heart rate, anxiety, panic attacks. Long-term: cause lung cancer. Tolerance and Addiction:

Tolerance: when a person needs more and more of the same drug to get the same effect. Addiction: the psychological and physiological dependence on a drug. Treatment medic supervision is necessary when people try to quit the drugs.
